ALLERGIES

North Bay ENT specialists play a crucial role in diagnosing and treating allergies that affect the upper airways. Allergic conditions can significantly impact the ears, nose, and throat, leading to symptoms such as nasal congestion, sinusitis, sore throat, and ear problems.

CONDITIONS WE TREAT

ENT specialists can perform various allergy tests to identify specific allergens triggering your symptoms. These tests may include skin prick tests, blood tests (specific IgE testing), or patch tests to determine allergic sensitivities.

 

In cases of severe allergies that are not well-controlled with medications or allergen avoidance, ENT specialists may recommend allergy immunotherapy (allergy shots). This treatment involves administering gradually increasing doses of allergens to desensitize the immune system and reduce allergic reactions over time.

 

ASTHMA

If you are a new patient to the practice or have not been seen in over three years, we kindly ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your appointment. The early arrival time allows you to locate the office, allow for parking, and the time needed to fill out any new paperwork. KATHERINE V. DAY, M.D.

Doctor Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

Dr. Katherine Day, originally from West Virginia, graduated with high honors from Princeton University and with highest honors from Yale University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in otolaryngology at the University of Maryland, where she managed to include prize-winning research with a busy clinical schedule. Dr. Day is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology.

MICHAEL P. RODRIGUES, M.D.

Doctor Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

Dr. Rodrigues received his Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University and his medical degree, with honors, from University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his chief residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Rodrigues has made numerous professional presentations and has published articles with the Maryland Otolaryngology Society. He serves as an instructor in several University of Maryland courses and volunteers in a number of public health services in Baltimore City.

CARLA M. LAWSON, M.D.

Doctor Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

Dr. Lawson holds an honors degree in electrical engineering from Duke University and attended medical school at Washington University in St. Louis, where she was awarded a prestigious scholarship and was accepted to the residency program in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. She then completed a fellowship in otology at the Minnesota Ear Institute with Dr. Michael Paparella, receiving advanced training in ear surgery. In addition to her special expertise at ear surgery, Dr. Lawson is an expert practitioner of the broad range of general ear, nose, and throat medicine and surgery. Dr. Lawson holds privileges at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Franklin Square Medical Center, Greater Baltimore Medical Center, and St. Joseph Medical Center.
